DataPump Import (IMPDP) Into ASM Based Database Slower Than Into Veritas VXFS Datafiles
(Doc ID 2224870.1)
Last updated on MARCH 27, 2019
Applies to:
Oracle Database - Enterprise Edition - Version 11.2.0.1 to 12.1.0.2 [Release 11.2 to 12.1]Information in this document applies to any platform.
Symptoms
We see a difference in elapsed times between same DataPump dumpfile being imported into an ASM based database (means all datafiles are on ASM) and the other setup which is using Veritas VXFS (non-ODM) datafiles:
IMPDP Test | IMPDP Start Time | IMPDP End Time | Total |
ASM | 20:15:56 | 20:38:54 | 0:22:58 |
Veritas | 20:21:19 | 20:37:59 | 0:16:40 |
AWR reports show the following information:
ASM environment is more powerful compared with the Veritas configuration:
- ASM environment is on Red Hat 5.8 release, it has 24 Cores CPUs(Xeon(R)CPUX5660@2.80GHz), it has 48288 MB in RAM, the associated SAN is an EMC array 4132
- Veritas environment is on RedHat 5.4, it has 16 Cores CPUs (R905:Quad-CoreAMDOpteron(tm)Processor838), it has 64520 MB in RAM, the SAN associated model is older , EMC array 3896.
