High Waits on "Latch: library cache" Linked to DBMS_ALERT.REGISTER Queries on X$KGLOB Even With Fix Bug 9437010
(Doc ID 2238764.1)
Last updated on AUGUST 04, 2018
Applies to:Oracle Database - Enterprise Edition - Version 188.8.131.52 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.
- DBMS_ALERT_INFO package is used, causing high usage of recursive sql which shows up as top sql in AWR:
SELECT DISTINCT SUBSTR(KGLNAOBJ, 11) SID FROM X$KGLOB WHERE KGLHDNSP = 7 AND KGLNAOBJ LIKE 'ORA$ALERT$%' AND BITAND(KGLHDFLG, 128)!=0
UNION SELECT DISTINCT SID FROM DBMS_ALERT_INFO
- The issue seems similar to the problem described in the following support note:
<Document 9437010.8> BUG9437010 - DBMS_ALERT.REGISTER is slow
However, after applying the patch, the performance is still slow.
