12c DBUA picks the wrong oracle home and SID while upgrade (Doc ID 2239688.1)

Last updated on AUGUST 24, 2022

Applies to:

Oracle Database - Enterprise Edition - Version to [Release 11.2 to 12.1]
Oracle Database Cloud Schema Service - Version N/A and later
Oracle Database Exadata Express Cloud Service - Version N/A and later
Gen 1 Exadata Cloud at Customer (Oracle Exadata Database Cloud Machine) - Version N/A and later
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure - Database Service - Version N/A and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

After invoking DBUA from the target ( Home ) , it does not show the right Oracle Home for Source database
It does not show the SID of the database to be upgraded

Checking the /etc/oratab file shows that the database to be upgraded is rightly mentioned

For this case :

Though the TEST11 database is rightly mentioned in the oratab file , the dbua was always picking wrong Oracle Home of “/app/oracle/product/test20/” .
Also , it was not listing the SID TEST11 to upgrade
