Hive Replication Fails When Replicating Impala Metadata on BDA V4.5/CDH 5.7.0 (Doc ID 2241259.1)

Last updated on JANUARY 22, 2020

Applies to:

Big Data Appliance Integrated Software - Version 4.5.0 to 4.5.0 [Release 4.5]
Linux x86-64

The symptoms are that:

1. HDFS replication works between two clusters.

2. Hive replication works except if replicating Impala Metadata is selected.

3. When Impala Metadata is selected replication jobs fail as below:

a) Jobs fail in the first step called:

Export Remote Hive Metastore

b) The command screen does not produce a useful error. When clicking on the download results button, the error that is produced is:

java.lang.RuntimeException: Could not connect to the impala catalog server

c) The Cloudera Manager server logs at /var/run/cloudera-scm-agent/process/<PID>-hive-replication-<CLUSTER_NAME>/logs report:

Failed to connect to the impala catalog server...

d) On the Impala catalog server /var/log/catalogd/catalogd.INFO reports:

TThreadedServer: TServerTransport died on accept: SSL_accept: wrong version number
