ADD DATAFILE UNDER ADD TABLESPACE-OPTIONS SHOWS WRONG TABLESPACE LIST (Doc ID 2245587.1)

Last updated on AUGUST 29, 2018

Applies to:

Oracle Database Configuration Assistant - Version 12.1.0.1 to 12.1.0.2 [Release 12.1]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Tried to create "Custom Database" using DBCA in 12.1.0.1 version.

When reached "Customize Storage" page as shown below, after clicking "add" button in left bottom, got option to enter the name of the tablespace (testtbs in this case).

Now want to add datafile name. There were no other options except "add tablespce" symbol button below datafile section. When clicked on that, an option to enter datafile name and also to select tablespace name was prompted. The issue is: the tablespace in which I wanted to create this new database is not in the dropdown list:

Only default tablespaces (like SYSTEM,SYSSUX, TEMP, UNDO, USERS) were there. These tablespaces options are not needed here. There is no need to select these tablespace here. When ignored all these options, new datafile is created in new tablespace as expected.
