Mysql Workbench (WB) Can't Synchronize Model With Database When Using JSON Data Types (Doc ID 2252913.1)

Last updated on APRIL 07, 2017

Applies to:

MySQL Workbench - Version 6.3 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Using MySQL WorkBench 6.3 When attempting to synchronize the data model with the database with an existing table that contains a JSON field the data model tries to create the table instead of altering the table.

If you remove the JSON fields from the data modeler and the database the model syncs as expected.

The use case:

  1.  Create table with JSON data type in data modeler and database.
  2.  Synchronize model under database >> synchronize model
  3.  Pick schema
  4. Observe the modeler does not see that the table exists which already exists on the database
