Last updated on AUGUST 17, 2021

Applies to:

MySQL Server - Version 5.7 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Disclaimer: Starting from v8.0, some terms have been deprecated. Older releases will only use the deprecated terminology, and new releases will only use new terminology. Please see https://dev.mysql.com/doc/mysqld-version-reference/en/ for a complete list of those changes, and in which minor versions it happened.

Why does private network "172.20.x.x" need to be added to the allowlist explicitly?

For the purpose of this document the default/examples from MySQL public manual for path/directory/port/etc are being used here, you should change to the correct data from your system.

According to documentation:

By default set to AUTOMATIC, which permits connections from private subnetworks active on the host. Active interfaces on the host are scanned and those with addresses on private subnetworks are automatically added to the permitted list.
