Symptoms

Upgrading from GI/ASM 12.1.0.2 to 12.2.0.1 fails in prerequisite checks with:

PRVG-10091 : failed to retrieve the ASM password file location for an ASM instance.


CVU trace output shows:

/u01/grid/12c/grid -getASMPWFile - failed to retrieve PWFILE of ASM

 

Output of ASM configuration: 

$ srvctl config asm -a
ASM home: <CRS home>
Password file:                                                              >>>>>No password file listed.
ASM listener: LISTENER
ASM is enabled.
ASM is individually enabled on nodes:
ASM is individually disabled on nodes:
