How to clone replica when using table repositories for position based replication from MySQL 5.6 series to 5.7.18. (Doc ID 2266476.1)

Goal

Learn how to setup a new replica using a backup taken from existing replica where repository is configured as tables. The procedure described in this document is not applicable to GTID based replication.
 

Warning: This procedure is not applicable for gtid_mode=ON and SOURCE_AUTO_POSITION=1
Note: As of 5.7.19, mysqldump doesn't include replication metadata tables in the dump. This procedure is applicable to version 5.7.18 or older only on MySQL 5.7 series.
