After Upgrade to BDA V4.8 Cluster Verifications Find the Hive Metastore is Down

After upgrading to BDA v4.8.0/CDH 5.10.1 the cluster verification tests find that the Hive service is in bad health. 

Navigating in Cloudera Manager (CM) to All Recent Commands shows:

Hive Service did not start successfully; not all of the required roles started: only 3/4 roles started. Reasons : Service has only 0 Hive Metastore Server roles running instead of minimum required 1.

The associated log shows:
