Database Gateway for SQL Server (DG4MSQL) LENGTH Function Returns Bytes Rather Than Characters (Doc ID 2279461.1)

Last updated on JULY 12, 2017

Applies to:

Oracle Database Gateway for SQL Server - Version 11.2.0.3 to 12.1.0.2 [Release 11.2 to 12.1]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Using Database Gateway for MSQL (DG4MSQL) it is noted when using the Oracle LENGTH function, it maps its equivalent MS SQLfunction to DATALENGTH.

Looking at HS_CLASS_CAPS, the ORACLE LENGTH function is mapped to MSSQL
DATALENGTH for 'MSSQL12.1.0.2.0_0023'. Previously, with HSODBC in version
9.2 and the SQL Server ODBC driver used at that version it mapped to MS SQL LEN
(in 'ODBC9.2.0.7.0_133')
