Symptoms

Tnsping failing with 12570 

Used TNSNAMES adapter to resolve the alias
Attempting to contact (DESCRIPTION= (ADDRESS= (PROTOCOL=TCP) (HOST=192.xx.xx.xx) (PORT=1521)) (CONNECT_DATA= (SERVER=dedicated) (SERVICE_NAME=ORADB)))
TNS-12570: TNS:packet reader failure

 

Telnet to the IP and port works fine

local connections works fine
