Symptoms

Restore to a guaranteed restore point created as part of upgrade using DBUA (silent upgrade) fails with ORA-38780 error. The DBUA trace.log indicates the restore was successful


[ 2017-03-03 15:12:14.966 CST ] Do you want to restore the database to the GRP that was created or selected before the upgrade?
[ 2017-03-03 15:12:40.061 CST ] DBUA has restored the database to the GRP that was created or selected before the upgrade.
[ 2017-03-03 15:12:40.062 CST ] UPGRADE_PROGRESS : 100%

However, the alert log of the database reports ORA-38780 error and so, the database cannot be opened in the source database home
