Intermittent Error When Using Kafka with Streamsets - "KAFKA_50 - Error writing data to Kafka broker: java.util.concurrent.ExecutionException: org.apache.kafka.common.errors.TimeoutException" (Doc ID 2296903.1)

Symptoms

When using BDA 4.7.0 with Kafka and Streamsets version 2.5.0, there is an intermittent error in the GUI:

"Error getting metadata for topic 'test' from broker '<BDAclustername>.<DOMAIN>:9092' due to error: org.apache.kafka.common.errors.TimeoutException: Failed to update metadata after 60000 ms."

At the time this error occurs, the kafka logs show messages like:

If the topic is renamed in the GUI, the error seems to go away but then returns at a later time.
