Symptoms
The InnoDB temporary table tablespace file (ibtmp1) is growing and the disk is getting out of space. For example:
Changes
The issue may start after:
- upgrading to MySQL 5.7 or later from MySQL 5.6 or earlier
- changes to the workload/application causing a larger usage of explicit and internal temporary tables
- changing default_tmp_storage_engine and/or internal_tmp_disk_storage_engine to use the InnoDB storage engine
