Symptoms

Applying 12.2.0.1.171017 GI RU/PSU (patch 26737266) or 12.2.0.1.171017 OCW RU/PSU (patch 26729536) or later to 12.2 cluster removes 12.2 oratab entries that are previously added by the agent.
When an agent starts up, it removes 12.2 ASM and database entries from /etc/oratab that have comments "# line added by Agent" appended to the line.

Because the fixes in PSU and RU are cumulative, this behavior will also be seen in all subsequent 12.2 GI RU/PSU and OCW RU/PSU that are released on or after October 2017.

The following is a typical oratab:

RACDB:/u01/app/oracle/product/12.2.0/dbhome_1:N # line added by Agent


The agent deletes the following lines from the above example:
+ASM1:/u01/app/12.2.0/grid:N # line added by Agent
RACDB1:/u01/app/oracle/product/12.2.0/dbhome_1:N # line added by Agent"
"RACDB:/u01/app/oracle/product/12.2.0/dbhome_1:N # line added by Agent"


The agent does NOT delete the following lines because those entries are for 11.2 and 12.1 databases although "# line added by Agent" is appended:
RAC121DB1:/u01/app/oracle/product/12.1.0/dbhome_1:N # line added by Agent
RAC112DB1:/u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1:N # line added by Agent


After the agent removes the entries, the above example oratab shows
