Symptoms

You have created database link from an Oracle Database to a MySQL database using Database Gateway for ODBC.

You encounter the following error:

ORA-28500: connection from ORACLE to a non-Oracle system returned this message:
[MySQL][ODBC 5.1 Driver]MySQL server has gone away {HY000,NativeErr = 2006}
ORA-02063: preceding 2 lines from MYSQL
