Cloduera Manager reports the Impala Catalog Server is in bad health. In the case here this was observed after a Mammoth upgrade.
The Impala Catalog Server log on the node with Impala Catalog Server role, /var/log/catalogd/catalogd.ERROR, shows that the catalog server fails to start due to a java.lang.OutOfMemoryError error.
The log shows:
<timestamp> TableLoader.java:58] Loading metadata for: <HOSTNAME>
# java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space
# Executing /bin/sh -c "/usr/lib64/cmf/service/common/../impala/catalogd_killparent.sh"
