Symptoms

Reading or writing from an HBase table raises the error below.  Running "hbase check" raises the same.

 ERROR: org.apache.hadoop.hbase.NotServingRegionException: Region <REGION_NAME>. is not online on bdanode0x.example.com,<PORT>,<NUM>
