How to Determine if the Certificates Used for Web Consoles and Hadoop Network Encryption on the BDA are the Default or Signed by a User CA. (Doc ID 2368374.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 06, 2023

Applies to:

Big Data Appliance Integrated Software - Version 4.3.0 and later
Linux x86-64

Goal

BDA 4.3 and higher uses self-signed certificates for web console and Hadoop network encryption.

On BDA V4.5 and higher using certificates signed by a user's Certificate Authority (CA) can also be used for this purpose as described in: How to Setup Certificates Signed by a User's Certificate Authority (CA) for Web Consoles and Hadoop Network Encryption Use on BDA 4.5 and Higher (Doc ID 2443887.1).

This note details how to tell which type of certificate is in use for this purpose on the BDA i.e. if the default self-signed certificates are used or if certificates signed by a user's Certificate Authority are used.

The checks to make this determination are below.
