Last updated on JUNE 10, 2018

Applies to:

Big Data Appliance Integrated Software - Version 4.3.0 and later
Linux x86-64

Goal

BDA 4.3 and higher uses self-signed certificates for web console and Hadoop network encryption.

On BDA V4.5 and higher using certificates signed by a user's Certificate Authority (CA) can also be used for this purpose as described in: How to Use Certificates Signed by a User's Certificate Authority for Web Consoles and Hadoop Network Encryption Use on the BDA (Doc ID 2187903.1).

This note details how to tell which type of certificate is in use for this purpose on the BDA i.e. if the default self-signed certificates are used or if certificates signed by a user's Certificate Authority are used.

The checks to make this determination are below.
