Applies to:

Oracle Database - Enterprise Edition - Version 11.1.0.6 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

When using the Data Pump expdp REMAP_DATA command line option, it is noticed that when the tables that are using this option are imported, the columns in the imported tables are wider than the original tables. There is no warning or error given by Data Pump for export or import.

The Data Pump expdp REMAP_DATA command line option allows you to specify a user-created remap function that takes as a source the original value of the designated column and returns a remapped value that will replace the original value in the dump file. A common use of this option is to mask data when moving from a production system to a test system.
