4k Block Size Support on XFS Filesystem - ORA-00204, ORA-00202 And ORA-27072: File I/O error (Doc ID 2396997.1)

Symptoms

Multiple symptoms with ORA-27072 errors on XFS filesystems with 4k bs and sector size.

1. When filesystemio_options is set to DIRECTIO or SETALL , database startup failed with : 

  ORA-00204: error in reading (block 1, # blocks 1) of control file 
  ORA-00202: control file: '/violin-db5/oradata/orav11/control02.ctl' 
  ORA-27072: File I/O error 
  Linux-x86_64 Error: 22: Invalid argument 

2. The aux database creation during table recover encountered:

ORA-01378: The logical block size (4096) of file /dosya/AUX_DB/EKXL_PITR_EVEREST/onlinelog/o1_mf_2_%u_.log is not compatible with the disk sector size (media sector size is 512 and host sector size is 512)


3. Audit cannot be created if the device is 4k block size - Error 46365 occured when writing Session Cleanup audit record. Please see PMON trace file for details. Proceeding without completing audit record...
