Symptoms

ALTER DATABASE DATAFILE ... DECRYPT fails with:

ORA-28435: cannot decrypt data file 'datafile_path' which is not encrypted with the database key

For example:

 

Changes

The datafile being decrypted belongs to a tablespace that was encrypted at the time of its creation, using the CREATE TABLESPACE  command with the ENCRYPTION clause.
