Terminating The Instance Due To Error 443 And Startup Nomount Fails With ORA-00443 On AIX (Doc ID 2411146.1)

Symptoms

As part of the upgrade, starting the instance from 12.2 and not able to open database from target home. Upgrade activity has not started yet.


SQL> startup upgrade
ORA-00443: background process "GEN1" did not start
SQL> startup nomount
ORA-00443: background process "GEN1" did not start


Alert log snippet is below and not much clues or traces are not generated.

If we start with the existing 11g home database is able to start.
