Starting ASM Instance = Errors in the Alert Log: ORA-7445[ktstrlh()+5] (Doc ID 2420436.1)

Starting an ASM instance fails with the following error in the alert log:

ORA-07445: exception encountered: core dump [ktstrlh()+5] [SIGSEGV] [ADDR:0x0] [PC:0xE95C17] [SI_KERNEL(general_protection)] []


The Call Stack Trace in the associated incident trace file shows:
