Purpose

 This bulletin explains the ALTER TABLESPACE RENAME benefits.

 

Scope

 This tablespace enhancement allows DBAs to rename tablespaces: - the easiest way to change the names of the tablespaces - simplifies the migration of a dictionary managed tablespace to a locally managed tablespace - allows the transport of a tablespace to a target database when one already exists with the same name in the target database
