SRVCTL START SERVICE Starts Database Services Without Considering The Database Role (Doc ID 2433367.1)

Last updated on APRIL 17, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Database - Enterprise Edition - Version 12.2.0.1 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

"srvctl start service" does not consider how the database role is defined for services. It starts all services, regardless if they should be started on the primary or the standby.

The default behavior should be to start all services which match that DB's role, with a flag to start services regardless of DB role. The current behavior for "srvctl start database" is to start only services which match the DB role.

The goal is to change  default Behavior to only start services locally for the local DB ROLE
