PLS-00801 Raised While Executing a Package Having SIMPLE_INTEGER Data Type Declared with CONSTANT Keyword (Doc ID 2440829.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 19, 2019

Applies to:

Oracle Database - Enterprise Edition - Version 18.1.0.0.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

An unexpected 'PLS-00801' error is raised while compiling a package body that declares a CONSTANT variable with simple_integer data type and the same is used in an arithmetic expression. The error is observed only when the variable participates in an arithmetic expression involving another simple_integer data type. The error is not seen if binary_integer or pls_integer is used instead of simple_integer or simple_integer is used with binary_integer or pls_integer in the arithmetic expression.

For example, the following code can be used to reproduce the issue.

Changes

The code works fine up to RDBMS version 12.2.0.1. It starts failing from 18c base version(18.1.0.0.0)
