Is it a good practice to take backup from both Primary and Standby (Doc ID 2450402.1)

We are backing up both primary and standby databases to Recovery Appliances of database versions 11.2 to 12.2. Doing so increases our resource use of time, space and effort. Our database environment is growing and we need to reduce our ZDLRA costs. What recommendations do you have?
