InnoDB Stall When Dropping Table and Possible MySQL Shutdown (Doc ID 2452891.1)

When dropping a large table (issue definitely seen with 256+GB size tables), InnoDB stops responding for the duration of the DROP TABLE. The output of the InnoDB monitor includes semaphore waits similar to the following example:

If the DROP TABLE takes longer than 10 minutes, MySQL may shut down as InnoDB believes it is stuck.
