How to Reset the Cloudera Manager "admin" User Password To the Default Value of "admin" If the Current "admin" User Password is Lost (Doc ID 2463937.1)

Last updated on APRIL 17, 2023

Applies to:

Big Data Appliance Integrated Software - Version 4.2.0 and later
Linux x86-64

Goal

On the BDA the default password for the Cloudera Manager (CM) "admin" user is "admin".  This value is reset during the initial Mammoth installation to a value selected in the configuration utility and can be changed again after the install.

In the case where the current CM "admin" user password is totally lost, the CM "admin" user password can be reset to the default password of "admin". After this point it will be possible to log into CM as "admin" user with "admin" password.  Then the "admin" user password can be changed to a custom password.
