How-to use plugins for restoring files after an upgrade (Doc ID 2473443.1)

Last updated on JANUARY 30, 2020

Applies to:

Oracle Exadata Storage Server Software - Version 11.1.0.3.0 and later
Linux x86-64

Goal

This document describes how to use 'dbnodeupdate plugins'. When running dbnodeupdate.sh (standalone or called via patchmgr) it's possible to use 'hooks' and have so called 'plugins' executed at particular (fixed) moments of the update process of the Exadata Database Nodes. The plugins can contain custom code to execute additional (custom) scripts during the update process. This How-to will describe:

  1. The scope of these plugins - the moments they execute
  2. How to implement and re-package
  3. How to trace/troubleshoot
  4. A disclaimer
