Symptoms

This is specific only to 11.2.0.4 that has OCT 2018 PSU or later.

Symptom 1: Database is not starting up

Database is not starting up after applying 11.2.0.4 OCT 2018 PSU or later to RDBMS HOME and the alert.log shows

[USER(23593)]CRS-2316:Fatal error: cannot initialize GPnP, CLSGPNP_ERR (Generic GPnP error).
kggpnpInit: failed to init gpnp
WARNING: No cluster interconnect has been specified. Depending on
the communication driver configured Oracle cluster traffic
may be directed to the public interface of this machine.
Oracle recommends that RAC clustered databases be configured
with a private interconnect for enhanced security and
performance.

 

Symptom 2: CRS fails to start

GPNPD is not starting after applying 11.2.0.4 OCT 2018 PSU or later to GI HOME

crsctl stat res -t -init shows

ora.gpnpd
1 ONLINE OFFLINE

 

gpnpdOUT.log shows

ld.so.1: gpnpd.bin: fatal: relocation error: file $GI_HOME/lib/libhasgen11.so: symbol ztpk_SetKeyInfo: referenced symbol not found
