ODA Shared Repository Not Releasing Disk Space From Deleted VMs; Not Able to Delete a VM Even if the VM Has no Files or VDisks
(Doc ID 2515399.1)
Last updated on APRIL 17, 2023
Applies to:
Oracle Database Appliance Software - Version 12.1.2.6 to 12.2.1.4 [Release 12.1 to 12.2]Information in this document applies to any platform.
Symptoms
One of the VMs we attempted to delete returned an error:
OAKERR : 9009 : Unable to find the resource : odatest
This VM is listed and can be seen if using the 'oakcli show vm' command,
However, there are no directories or files for it found under the expected location.
/u01/app/sharedrepo/.ACFS/snap
This issue can be a bit confusing as the source of the problem is the mismatch of various VM metadata / information:
Examples:
- We do not see references to VM or Vdisks saying that they exist even though you may have attempted to delete the VM earlier.
- The reason we believe that they must exist is that we can not delete the resource - e.g. OAKERR : 9009 : Unable to find the resource : odatest - We believe that a VDisk must exist after deleting a VM using the same Vdisk. Reason: A second VM uses the same Vdisk and is working but does not show the Vdisk
- We see references to incorrect, missing VM metadata which does not match between commands showing the repository, VM and vm.cfg.
