Symptoms
When using SJIS multibyte database (JA16SJIS or JA16SJISTILDE), a simple query using LIKE '%x%' predicate may spin or return wrong result when using NLS_SORT='Japanese_M_CI' and NLS_COMP='LINGUISTIC'.
The problematic multibyte character includes Japanese half-width katakana voiced sound mark and semi-voiced sound mark.
