After Mammoth Upgrade Sentry Permissions are Not Getting Applied/Sentry is Not in Sync with HMS Due to /etc/my.cnf Being Overwritten (Doc ID 2523536.1)

Symptoms

After Mammoth upgrade, Sentry permissions are not getting applied and Sentry is not in sync with the Hive Metadata Server (HMS).

Symptoms look like:

1. The HMS logs show:

failed to execute syncNotifications
java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException

2. Running the following queries in MySQL shows a mismatch between the SENTRY_HMS_NOTIFICATION_ID table and the hive.NOTIFICATION_LOG event id.
