Symptoms

After Mammoth upgrade, the Hive Metastore Server goes into bad health with:

Hive Metastore Canary
"The Hive Metastore canary failed to create a database."

1. Hive Metadata Server logs show:

cmd=create_database: Database(name:cloudera_manager_metastore_canary_test_db_hive_HIVEMETASTORE_##, description:Cloudera Manager Metastore Canary Test Database
WARN org.apache.hadoop.hive.metastore.ObjectStore: Failed to get database cloudera_manager_metastore_canary_test_db_hive_HIVEMETASTORE_##, returning NoSuchObjectException"

2. Service Monitor logs show warnings like:

Could not drop hive table CM_TEST_TABLE for database: cloudera_manager_metastore_canary_test_db_hive_HIVEMETASTORE_##
...
Caused by: java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Read timed out"
