AUTOMATIC FAILOVER FAILED TO CONVERT THE STANDBY TO PRIMARY (Doc ID 2525554.1)

Symptoms

Managed recovery is running on standby and a Manual or Automatic Failover was issued  which fails to Convert Standby to Primary .

 

Instance gets terminated by CKPT process when Managed recovery is still active on standby


In some cause you might see a hang/dead lock like situation followed by instance crash

 System state would show

The LGWR is waiting on "rdbms ipc message" and is blocking the CKPTwhich is blocking RSM0 and RSM0 is blocking the CKPT

LGWR call stack :-  kglClusterMessage <- kglInvalidateByHash <- krdrsb_mdfl_callbac <- kcoapl_rcv_marker <- kcbr_iapply_change





The datafiles would be left in fuzzy status causing Open to fail or report error saying file is not consistent enough to open .
