Last updated on SEPTEMBER 30, 2020

Applies to:

Oracle Database - Enterprise Edition - Version 12.1.0.2 to 12.1.0.2 [Release 12.1]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

If you apply PSU or Bundle Patch in an environment that uses Unified Auditing of 12.1.0.2,  queue write mode changes to immediate write mode.

SQL> set serveroutput on
SQL>
SQL> DECLARE
  2   OS_MAX_AGE_VAL NUMBER;
  3  BEGIN
  4   OS_MAX_AGE_VAL := DBMS_AUDIT_MGMT.GET_AUDIT_TRAIL_PROPERTY_VALUE(
  5    audit_trail_type          => DBMS_AUDIT_MGMT.AUDIT_TRAIL_UNIFIED,
  6    audit_trail_property      => DBMS_AUDIT_MGMT.AUDIT_TRAIL_WRITE_MODE);
  7   IF OS_MAX_AGE_VAL is not NULL THEN
  8    DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('AUDIT_TRAIL_WRITE_MODE: ' ||
  9                         OS_MAX_AGE_VAL);
 10   END IF;
 11  END;
 12  /
AUDIT_TRAIL_WRITE_MODE: 2     <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

The immediate write mode is "AUDIT_TRAIL_WRITE_MODE: 2" and the queue write mode is "AUDIT_TRAIL_WRITE_MODE: 1".

Changes

 Apply PSU or Bundle Patch to the environment using Unified Auditing in 12.1.0.2.
