Applies to:
Oracle Database - Enterprise Edition - Version 12.1.0.2 and laterInformation in this document applies to any platform.
Goal
The backups go to two different location on disk.First location is FRA and other location is to NFS or different path.
The requirement is delete obsolete should delete backups only from one location on disk and not from other location.
Example
First the Backup goes to FRA
Then the backup of recovery area is taken using Rman to NFS share using below command
rman> backup recovery area to destination '/nfs/<path>/' ;
By default when you run Delete obsolete it will Delete both the FRA and the backup present in the NFS mount point based on the retention policy set.
Delete obsolete works on the retention policy set and the device type .
The requirement Delete obsolete should only delete the backup from FRA location and not the NFS mount point or alternate location.
Since its an FRA backup you cannot use keep option when backing up the FRA to NFS .
This document explains a workaround that can be used to achieve the above
