Last updated on JULY 20, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle Database - Enterprise Edition - Version 12.1.0.2 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

After encrypting some folder on an ACFS filesystem with AES256 algorythm, the performance for the filesystem drops drastically when reading/writing into
the encrypted folder; based on tests ,there was an average of ~70% drops (268MB/s -> 78MB/s) in throughput on read operations, and ~87% drops (132MB/s-> 17MB/s) on write operations.

After applying patch 27611913 , 4k write non-encrypted result: 224MB/s (100%), encrypted result: 52MB/s (23.2% of the performance of non-encrypted),
so the loss is 76.8%.
