Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

 Finding extensions like (0) and ("COLUMN_NAME") in DBA_STAT_EXTENSIONS which seem to be invalid extensions at first sight.

SQL> select * from dba_stat_extensions where owner='.....';

OWNER TABLE_NAME EXTENSION_NAME EXTENSION CREATOR DROPPABLE

OWNER TABLE_NAME SYS_NC00020$ (0) SYSTEM NO

OWNER TABLE_NAME SYS_NC00008$ ("COLUMN_NAME") SYSTEM NO

When trying to drop such extensions, errors for invalid expression are received.

SQL> exec dbms_stats.drop_extended_stats('OWNER', 'TABLE', '(0)');
BEGIN dbms_stats.drop_extended_stats('OWNER', 'TABLE', '(0)'); END;

*
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-20001: Invalid Extension: Not an expression
