ODP.NET Managed Driver Can Get ORA-12570 When Issuing SQL After a Long Idle State (Doc ID 2542975.1)

Symptoms

ODP.NET managed driver can get ORA-12570 when issuing SQL after a long idle state.

It is reported that this issue can occur by the next scenario as one case:

  1. An application such as a Web application opens a connection to the database, issues some SQLs and then has been stayed in idle state for a long time
  2. The connection is shut down by a firewall due to its idle timeout setting
  3. The application gets ORA-12570 when issuing a new SQL on the same connection
