(Doc ID 2573991.1)
Last updated on JULY 20, 2024
Applies to:
Oracle Database - Enterprise Edition - Version 12.1.0.2 and laterInformation in this document applies to any platform.
Symptoms
Global Index Space is not getting reused even after running "ALTER INDEX <index name> COALESCE CLEANUP"
Changes
Starting from 12c, we all know that there is a feature called "Asynchronous Global Index Maintenance" which will clean up the orphan entries from all the global indexes during its maintenance window. However, free blocks are not getting reused after that. Even running the "ALTER INDEX <index_name> COALESCE CLEANUP" is not helping out.
