Applies to:

Oracle Database - Enterprise Edition - Version 9.0.1.0 to 9.2.0.1 [Release 9.0.1 to 9.2]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Encountering the following errors when trying to drop propagation.

BEGIN
dbms_propagation_adm.drop_propagation('DWY_TO_DWZ');
END;
ORA-00604: error occurred at recursive SQL level 1
ORA-00911: invalid character
ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_LOGREP_UTIL", line 556
ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_PROPAGATION_ADM", line 82
ORA-06512: at line 2

The propagation rule_set was dropped first of all together with its associated
rules, i.e delete_rules => TRUE. As a result, now unable to drop propagation
or add to it because the ruleset no longer exists.
Dba_streams_table_rules show several rules that do not exist in any other
dictionary table.
