UNABLE TO LOAD ORACLEACFS.KO ON SLES12 SP3 AFTER KERNEL UPGRADE TO 4.4.176-94.88 (Doc ID 2607485.1)

The issue is specific to ACFS installation on SLES 12 SP3 running Oracle 12.1.0.2

Symptoms

 

After kernel upgrade from SLES 11 to SLES 12 SP3 (kernel 4.4.176-94.88), ACFS installation fails with below error:

ACFS-9154: Loading 'oracleoks.ko' driver.
ACFS-9154: Loading 'oracleadvm.ko' driver.

modprobe: ERROR: could not insert 'oracleacfs': Invalid argument
ACFS-9109: oracleacfs.ko driver failed to load.
ACFS-9178: Return code = USM_FAIL
ACFS-9177: Return from 'ld usm drvs'
ACFS-9428: Failed to load ADVM/ACFS drivers. A system reboot is recommended.
ACFS-9310: ADVM/ACFS installation failed.
ACFS-9178: Return code = USM_REBOOT_RECOMMENDED
ACFS-9177: Return from 'install'
ACFS-9176: Entering 'acroot ex'
ACFS-9178: Return code = 3
ACFS-9177: Return from 'acroot ex'

Before OS kernel upgrade, ACFS modules were up and running.
