Reading from or Writing to SecureFiles LOB in OCI Non-Blocking Mode Can Never Complete (Doc ID 2631772.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 11, 2020

Applies to:

Oracle Net Services - Version 11.2.0.4 and later
Oracle Database - Enterprise Edition - Version 11.2.0.4 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

When calling OCILobWrite() / OCILobWrite2() for writing to Securefiles LOB in Non-Blocking mode, the call can sometimes never complete and keep returning ORA-3123(OCI_STILL_EXECUTING).
If setting SEND_BUF_SIZE in sqlnet.ora to a lower value, such as 8192 than the default one (probably 262144 bytes on a generic Linux box), this symptom would tend to reproduce easier.

This symptom can occur when reading from Securefiles LOB by OCILobRead() / OCILobRead2() as well.

Changes

Changed LOB column type from BasicFiles LOB to SecureFiles LOB.
