ABORTING INSTANCE CONNECTED VIA TAF SERVICE DO NOT RETURN ERROR FOR LONG RUN SELECT (Doc ID 2647386.1)

Last updated on APRIL 17, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Net Services - Version 19.5.0.0.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

TAF is configured for a RAC service by executing the following command.

srvctl modify service -db <db name> -service <service name> -tafpolicy BASIC -failovertype SELECT -failovermethod BASIC

Execute a long-running select command (e.g.may costing several minutes), immediately after an insertion to the table
but not committed.
Then stop the current instance in ABORT mode.

The session will automatically connect to another instance, and then return the result later, but without keeping the previous insertion.
