Ksplice fixes fail to load upon reboot on Exadata 19.3.0 through 19.3.5 (Doc ID 2651806.1)

Last updated on DECEMBER 08, 2021

Applies to:

Oracle Exadata Storage Server Software - Version 19.3.0.0.0 to 19.3.5.0.0 [Release 12.2]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

During system boot available Ksplice fixes from an uptrack-updates RPM may fail to install. This issue is intermittent and may not occur at every system boot. This issue affects database servers and storage servers running Exadata versions 19.3.0 through 19.3.5, inclusive, that have an uptrack-updates RPM installed. Although an uptrack-updates RPM is included starting only in 19.3.3 for some Exadata configurations (see the “Database Server Operating System” section in <Document 888828.1> for details), an administrator may have installed one for any earlier Exadata 19.3 version using the steps documented in <Document 2207063.1>.

To determine if an uptrack-updates RPM is installed, run the following rpm(8) command:

Note that even if uptrack-show(8) indicates Ksplice fixes are installed, because the issue is intermittent, without the fix the issue may occur at next system boot.
