Symptoms

 

When using Opatch Utility version 12.2.0.1.18 / 12.2.0.1.19 / 11.2.0.3.23 to perform cleanup of Oracle Home , it tries to delete all the files including root directory .

 

command behavior explained :

On Unix :

 No matter from where you run "opatch util cleanup" , it will try to delete all the files / directory under root if the oracle user has permission .

 

On windows :

current_working_directory will be affected if the windows OS user has the access to delete the files , it will delete else , it fails with the java errors and exits .

If you run it as administrator , then there are chances that it might delete all the files from current_working_directory .
